Better later than never… and because he deserves space in this blog, Charlie… for you.
When Charlie came over here, in April (and it has rain since then, a lot), taking advantage of the fact that I had the weekend off, we rented a car and took a ride across the island. As you have seen in the pictures, what its worth here is the landscapes, but Charlie says that you cannot see pictures of the place we went to because the great thing is to see it wothout knowing at all what it is. And as I expect a lot of you to come over and visit me sooner or later, I will just upload few of them and with no details (although it´s a shame because I have really pretty ones)
So, our plan in the beginning was going to Northern Ireland and stay there for the weekend, but it was bank holiday here the following Monday, and all rooms were already booked. So, we just rented the car and drive north to see the Giants Causeway… and now I have to stop because otherwise Charlie will kill me. Well, and ancient celt legend tells the story of this irish giant, Finn McCool who decided to build a causeway to get to the Staffa island in Scotland to challenge another giant, Benandonner… and being as he was a giant, he did a causeway made of hexagonal prisms with a length of 120 km aprox so that he wouldn´t get wet; he was a giant, but delicate one. Soooo delicate than when he approached his opponent and realised that he was strongest and more ferocious, he run back home and his wife, Oonagh had to hide him in a cot. The scotish, also a delicate giant, when he got around and saw such a creature, he didn´t even want to imagine the size of the father and also run back home, breaking the causeway in his way back, so that there´s just a strech left in both sides.
And truly the scenary is amazing… but you will have to come and see it with your own eyes… (you can also blame Charlie)
Driving in Ireland and on the left finally was really easy. I had previous experiences but never for so long and on my own; traffic was light and smooth and the car we got was better than the one we ask for… so it was very very easy. On our way back we decided to take the coast road… and I don´t have to say anything else, because one image is better…
But we thought it would be a good idea to stop in Belfast for dinner, big mistake… at 6 all the kitchens were closed… we didn´t had dinner. And the thing is that this is the second time I go to Belfast and maybe is because I don´t get the point, but I always have a weird feeling: is a dead city.
To be continued.... (and it´s a threatening)
